The Humdrum Toolkit provides a set of free software tools intended to assist in music research. The toolkit is suitable for use in a wide variety of computer-based musical tasks. This site contains a comprehensive collection of over 200 web pages providing both detailed and summary information concerning all aspects of the Humdrum Toolkit.
- Newcomers and browsing visitors often find it helpful to see a short list of sample problems that can be solved using Humdrum, or read brief descriptions of research projects that have been carried out using Humdrum.

- If you would like a longer (8 page) introductory overview of Humdrum, Chapter 1 from the Humdrum User Guide is recommended.

- The index to on-line musical scores provides an idea of the volume of music encoded in the Humdrum format. The Kern Scores site provides public access to music encoded in the Humdrum Kern representation.
